Quality assurance

In 1995, the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark implemented a quality management/quality assurance system and was accredited by DANAK (the Danish Accreditation Fund). Subsequently, many chemical and microbiological methods have been accredited and lots of internationally accepted analytical results have been produced.

The quality assurance system is intended to ensure and document the quality of the analyses and the surveys as well as the quality of the function as reference laboratory (both national and EU community). Besides, the quality assurance system ensures that the requirements from the public authorities and other customers in relation to advisory questions are met.

The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark is accredited to testing according to the standard DS/EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) and as provider of proficiency testing according to the standard DS/EN ISO/IEC 17043:2010 (Conformity assessment – General requirements for proficiency testing).

The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark is accredited with a flexible scope regarding parameters, matrices, performance and method within parts of the scope.

The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark is provider of proficiency testing regarding:        

  • Pesticides in cereals, cereal products and feeding stuff     
  • Serotypning, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Zoonotic pathogens and indicator organisms

The Quality Management Unit of the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark shapes, coordinates and maintains the overall quality assurance system and is in contact with DANAK.
