Veterinary drug residues
DTU National Food Institute performs science-based consultancy within the area of residues of veterinary drugs and hormones to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
The consultancy services offered cover, e.g., the national annual control plan and contributes to ensure a high level of analytical quality at the official control laboratories. The consultancy services also support the contributions of the public authorities to enquiries and to the chemical analytical preparedness.
We develop and validate sensitive quantitative analytical methods, primarily based on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, e.g. for the projects conducted by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration for control of residues of veterinary drugs and hormones in Danish produced or imported foods of animal origin and in feed. The aim of these projects is to ensure that producers and establishments conform to the rules and regulations on the use of these substances.
The laboratory is accredited by DANAK (the Danish national body for accreditation) and holds a flexible accreditation to test for residues of veterinary drugs and hormones by LC/MS-MS.
