On 12 November 2024, you can attend a conference on health promotion and disease prevention. It is free, but you have to register by 10 November at the latest.
The conference is particularly relevant for professionals in the food sector, industry organisations, research institutions (including other DTU institutes), authorities, healthcare professionals, and food science students. Journalists are also welcome.
The demand for healthy and safe foods continues to increase. However, at the same time, more and more people are affected by infectious diseases, lifestyle diseases – such as diabetes, overweight, and cardiovascular diseases – and exposure to chemicals which can lead to cancer and inhibit our ability to reproduce. Thus, research that promotes health and prevents disease is very important.
The first part of the conference takes place in the Oticon Hall in Building 107 with a series of engaging presentations covering both diet and dietary components, as well as minimising risks associated with our food.
The second part will take place in the Biosphere in Building 202 as a Health Fair with various simultaneous activities. Engage in dialogue with the institute's researchers and advisors at different exhibition stands, hear additional short presentations, or participate in unique tours of some of the institute’s laboratories to learn more about DTU National Food Institute’s work in promoting health and preventing diseases.

Explore unique laboratories
For example, you can experience an advanced in vitro model that simulates the function of the large intestine. This model is used to study processes within the gastrointestinal system. You can also visit a large biotechnology laboratory, used for, among other things, food fermentation and biorefining, as well as a range of state-of-the-art laboratories for chemical food analysis and studies of cell and tissue cultures.
Participation in the conference is free of charge. The conference is supported by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark.
